... I thought I'd let you know that I'm well into my second build which is a Sopwith Camel to original spec except for the engine. The R3600 will go into the Camel as it definitely needs a round engine because the cowl is completely open at the front. I could still do with a bit more weight/power but will add lead as necessary to get the C of G right. I don't suppose you are considering producing a 180hp Rotec ? {Rotec reply: sorry no such plans}

Well that's it for now. I'll send regular updates, and have attached pictures of the Camel wing construction progress.

All the best,

Peter Bond.

Re: Sopwith Camel Update

Hi all at Rotec

Here are some more photos to add to my project page showing my now finished set of Sopwith Camel wings complete with ailerons.
They show the lower mainplanes which attach directly to the fuselage, and the top mainplanes joined to the center section.
On to the fuselage next!

I love the photos of Graham Orphans beautiful Nieuport 11 "Bebe" and will be following his progress with his Fokker Triplane closely.

Best Regards - Peter

Hi all at Rotec

Just a quick update on the Camel project.

Still working on the wings and ailerons at present. All the numerous (and complicated) metal fittings have been fabricated and fitted to the spars and wings assembled complete with bracing wires, (music wire and streamline).

Photos show metal fittings prior to priming and painting, the top wing center section/right mainplane in the foreground with left mainplane on a stand in the background, and lastly an aileron fitted to the top left mainplane.

Lower wings are almost complete with one more aileron to go before moving on to the fuselage and empenage.

More photos soon.

Regards - Peter Bond
